Commanding AIBO is
as simple as speaking a phrase s uch as "Go forward," "Get up," or "Stop."
AIBOs can initiate play and take digital photographs on command. Tactile
sensors in its head, feet, and tail help AIBO navigate a room and respond to
human touch. This AIBO is equipped with light sensors and visual imaging
components that allow it to see shapes and colors. With three articulation
points in its head, twelve in its legs, and one in its antenna, it walks,
crouches, sits, rights itself, and even stretches after "waking up." AIBO can
give visual and audio cues to its owner when it is happy, sad, hungry, playing,
and more. It can recognize and communicate with other AIBO units of the same
series.
Unlike many robots
that cannot advance beyond their initial, preprogrammed set tings, this robot
companion can grow and learn.
