Dyson Vacuum Review
The Answer to your Pet Hair Removal Problems

I have had my yellow Dyson for 10 months now and had no problems. I have to constantly vacuum dog hair, so I need a powerful vacuum cleaner. There are no filters, expensive bags or belts that need to be replaced. There are 2 hepa filters and one is removable, you should wash this filter every 6 months. Bags fill up quickly with pet hair so a bagless vacuum is a big money saver.

There is a belt, but it is not user replaceable. I really hesitated to buy the Dyson when I read this, I am a major belt breaker! Don't worry, Dyson has a clutch system that protects the belt. The brushbar will automatically disengage and make a loud ratchet noise if it becomes obstructed. I thnk I have heard this sound twice in almost a year. I turned off the unit, it spit out the object on it's on and I was on my way again. One reason I was always breaking belts with my other vacuums was because of my long hair. It still wraps around the beater bar of the Dyson but the belt is well protected. I never find any hair around the belt.

There are many easy access points to remove clogs. Because of the great suction I have only had 1 clog in 10 months. Seems like all of the problems I used to have with vacuums are now gone!

Pictures of my Dyson are below and you can click on them to see larger images.

Dyson Beater Bar
The 3 yellow tabs can be turned with a quarter or a screwdriver for easy access to the beater bar. As you can see my long hair wraps all around the beater bar, a problem with any vacuum. A little secret a vacuum salesmen told me is that stiff bristle brushes are much better at picking up pet hair than soft bristles. I had considered buying the Bosch Cyclone to save a few bucks but it has very soft bristles as it is really made for Europeans who mostly have hardwood floors.

Note the wide grey area in the image above. This is where the belt is and I have a close up on the left. I have already cut away most of the hair on the left side of the belt, but on the right you can see how much hair is collected. Well keep in mind I don't clean it as oft en as I should. The main thing to look at is the belt area itself. You see no hair wrapped up here. The belt is very well protected, this means no breaking or streching. Thank you James Dyson!

Ahhh, it looks much nicer after it is cleaned. Note the first easy access point. You can see a piece of clear hose right above the belt. I have never had a clog here.

They also carry the Green Full Gear and Canister Models.

The outer clear canister can be removed for washing, though there really is no reason you need to do this. I tapped the yellow inner portion on the ground so you can see the very small dirt particles it has picked up. Click the image to see it close up.

From time to time I like to take the inner portion outside and dust it off with a dry paint brush or compressed air. This removes all the dirt from the little holes in the top portion of the canister.

All clean again, this looks much better!

I don't know that this really needs to be done, but I like to do it once in awhile.
