Pet owners love it! The Shark Cordless Sweeper is not meant to be a replacement for your regular vacuum. One reason it is so lightweight is because there is no heavy motor. It is not going to suck large amounts of dirt from deep down in your carpet. IT IS going to quickly clean up the messes without dragging out the heavy vacuum. It is going to pick up things that you really don't want to run through your heavy duty vacuum cleaner. Pet food kibble, torn up paper, bone chips, (things the dog tore up) pet hair, cat litter, food the kids spilled, leaves that fell off the plants, stuff tracked in from the yard, those little screws & paperclips that always jam the big vacuum.

Use the Shark Cordless Sweeper to pick up all that big unsightly stuff that makes your carpet and floor look a mess, the things you often have to pick up before you run your heavy duty vacuum. The Shark cordless sweeper will do it without blowing out dust and there is no cord to drag around. It's small enough to go where the big guys can't. It is also great for older or disabled people who can't handle the weight of a large vacuum. You can let your kids vacuum their own room and not worry about them jamming up the big vacuum. Save the big heavy vacuum for what it is good at - sucking out the deep down dirt that you can't see once every week or two.

The Roomba Robot Vacuum is a similar type of device and everyone loves it too. It is a robotic carpet sweeper the travels around the house and cleans by itself. Needless to say it is more expensive. Great if you like gadgets, but the advantage of the Shark is you can just hit the bad spots and don't have to do the entire room.

The Shark Cordless Sweeper is one of the top selling houseware products at Amazon. All those people can't be wrong!

I have heard some complaints about the Shark cordless from people that have very thick carpeting. If you have very plush carpet you might want to try one of the sweepers listed below. The Housekeeper Sweeper has a height adjustment and specifically says it will work on plush carpet. The Oreck comes with a 30 day return policy. If you don't like it, return it and they pay the shipping!

People have complained because long hair gets wrapped around the roller. I have long hair and it wraps around the roller of any vacuum. It is much easier to cut the hair off the Shark roller than it is to cut it off the roller of my Hoover WindTunnel. The only way to fully access the roller on my WindTunnel is to open it with a screwdriver. Some people complain about the noise. It's a vacuum, it is going to make noise, but I don't find it to be extremely loud. I now only use my WindTunnel once a week and I run the Shark first. No more pet hair clogging up my vacuum bag and long hair clogging up the roller. I have heard complaints about a grinding noise when the Shark is pulled backwards. I have heard this noise myself but it stopped after the 3rd charge. Euro-pro says the Shark doesn't reach full performance until it has been fully charged and discharged 3 times. Running the Shark on carpet it will start to slow down as the battery drains. I picked the unit up and let it run with no resistance on the brush until it totally stopped. Fully discharged!

Other Carpet & Floor Sweepers worth a mention:
Oreck Restaurateur® Floor Sweeper uses a unique durable rubber blade instead of a brush roller.

Tested best by Hammacher Schlemmer Housekeeper’s Carpet Sweeper
This model, with its unique rotary side brushes, was awarded the Institute’s Best rating for its superior ability to collect a variety of test debris (instead of just spreading it around), and to clean thoroughly along the bases of walls—tasks the other models couldn’t perform. Whether used on plush carpet, short pile carpet, or bathroom tile, the Best model removed most of each spill in the first stroke, picking up even the smallest pieces of sugar, crushed cereal, and cat litter that other models left to become lodged in carpet pile or tile grouting. The Best model also has a brush height selector, for different floor surfaces, and a top-removing dust pan for quick, clean disposal of collected dirt

Swept off my feet in Santa Rosa, February 5, 2003 Reviewer: A Kitchen & Housewares enthusiast from Santa Rosa, CA United States
This little machine is so deceptive--it looks like a Fischer-Price toy, but is so efficient and powerful that it picked up a whole tray of roof gravel from last night's storm that had landed on my patio. I originally bought it because I use a power wheelchair and have a cleaning lady once a week. In the meantime, my parrot throws seeds, corks, peanuts and clothespins around. My wheelchair tires catch indoor and outdoor stuff and drag them all over the house. And sometimes I spill a bag of rice or some wet spaghetti in the kitchen. It picks up everything. I was so thrilled with it that I gave each of my nieces this sweeper for Valentines Day (not romantic, but I think they'll just adore it as much as I do).

I love my new Shark Cordless Sweeper., January 25, 2003 Reviewer: urszulaz from Orland Park, Illinois United States
I owned those expensive Rainbow and Kirby vacuums, which were very heavy & I got briuses while using them. This little Shark is light, flat,& does his job really well. I don't have to play with the cord or change bags. I have 2 cats, and belive me this thing is picking all the cat's hair and more. I would recomend this item to everybody. Cleaning with it is a pleasure.

DOES THE JOB WELL, February 3, 2003 Reviewer: MARY BETH HOFMANN from Michigan
As a person who foster's cats for adoption, in a house where it is mostly wood floors and rugs, I hated switching back and forth from heavy vaccum to do the rugs and broom/swifter/dust pan for the wood floors. I particularly hate the little dust balls that always are one step ahead of the broom and accumulating under furniture. This machine is heaven sent. I love the fact that it is light and cordless. I moves easily under my furniture, and sucks up the dust balls along edges very well. It goes to the rugs to the wood floor effortlessly. The amount of cat hair that I pick up in one run is amazing. Then I easily carry it downstairs to tackle the kitty litter and dryer lint. The only cons I see is that I have to pick the brushes because the hair gets wound up in them (due to so many animals) and when moving the sweeper back it drags. Other than that, it is a great product.

Amazing Little Sweeper, February 15, 2003 Reviewer: Patsy from Birmingham, AL United States
The Euro-Pro Shark Cordless Electric Sweeper is amazing. When my order arrived, I was skeptical that anything this light weight would prove worth keeping. Assembly was quick and simple. I charged the sweeper overnight and gave it a quick trip through the tiled kitchen and carpeted hallway before heading to work. I was amazed to find the (bagless) collection tray full! That evening I gave the sweeper a REAL test by vacuuming our bedroom. Our five cats and two dogs hang out in the bedroom. Not only did the sweeper do a good job removing the pet hair from the carpet, it had no problem picking up the crumbs of cat litter the cats had tracked on the carpet. That made a believer out of me. I was able to sweep easily under low furniture (goodbye, dust bunny colonies) thanks to the low-profile, swivel head on the sweeper. This sweeper is a real jewel. Go for it!
