Vapor Steam cleaners have been
used in Italy for years and there are now many types of steam
cleaners available
in the US ranging in price from under $100.00 to several
thousand dollars. So what is the difference in these machines
as far
as cleaning power? I asked this question
and was told that a $2000.00 machine that heated water to
the same temperature
as a $200.00 machine would probably have the same cleaning
power. Look for a vapor steam cleaner that heats
water to at least 240° Many of the high end
models go up to around 300° and if you can afford it
this is what I would go for. I wouldn't recommend paying
the high price for a model
that only heats to 240° The steam will cool before it
hits the tip so the tank temperature will also we higher than
the actual steam temperature.
A stainless stell water tank will last longer than aluminum
and other features that may be important to you are the ability
to add water to the tank while it is still hot. The tank is
under pressure so often you can't add water until it cools.
I have not found this to be a problem as one tank goes a long
way.
